About Us
The Steel School has been spreading their love of Irish Dance since the early 1980's. With hard work and lots of practice, dancers from the school have successfully competed in many competitions both locally and internationally.
A commitment to attendance is imperative to the success of each individual student. Classes at the Steel School of Irish Dance are designed to build upon skills learned from the previous class. Dancers learn at their own speed, and it is important to realize that it takes time and practice to perfect their skills. All students will become familiar with the following dance terms: Reel, Light Jig, Single Jig, Slip Jig, Set Dances, Treble Jig, Hornpipe and Ceili Dancing.
Although competitions are not necessary, we do encourage students to attend local and out of town feiseanna (competitions). Steel School dancers have competed in the Western Canadian Regional Oireachtas, North American Irish Dance Championships and Worlds. Our school also offers many opportunities year round to dance at many community events.
Performances
We love to bring Irish Dance into the community, and our dancers love to perform! Our dancers, who range from beginners to champions, can provide the perfect entertainment for any event. Depending on the event, and your preference, we can send out small or large groups who can perform for any varying length. Please contact the school to book your event!
Recently our dancers have performed at Music is Life, Newton Days, The Whalley Block Party, Fleetwood Days, The Fraser Heights County Fair, and Langley's International Festival.
You can see us next on:

May 8 North Surrey Multicultural Day

June 8 Honey Bee Festival

June 13, 2008 Fraser Heights County Fair from 5-9pm

August 9, 2008 The Burnaby Festival
We do not charge for most community events, but we do ask for a contribution for our shows. All money received benefits our dancers directly, and is used for class costumes and travel for the dancers to competitions. Some of our dancers compete at the international level, and this requires travel to Ireland, Scotland, and many locations in the US and Canada.
